What do you guys like more beez or grunt gear ak chest rigs? the beez is half the price but i don't want it to be cheap crap either.

Neither. UW gear makes awesome rigs. Either that or go to the source and get one from Russia.

UW bandoleer is the bees beez knees. Or get the bigger chest rig if you want, I wanted a minimalist rig.

I used to run huge capacity rigs, and finally I realized I want one mag in the rifle, and three on my rig.

US Grunt Gear makes nice stuff...I have an AR chest rig and war belt...no AK specific rig, but the AR rig is great.

Other: Tactical Tailor MAV rig, or TT pouches on MOLLE vests. All I use any more.

UW Gear

I'd never heard of UW before this post.

TX-Zen - In your opinion what makes UW more preferable over Beez Combat?

Nothing wrong with UW Gear at all, but they cost almost twice as much for virtually the same thing at 762Tactical and elsewhere.

To OP:  Beez is not cheap crap, it's US Grunt Gear that's overpriced.  Strikehard is another good company.

They contacted me out of the blue a few years ago and asked if I'd be interested in reviewing an AK rig, however at that time I wasn't interested because I was happy with my TT-MAV + Taco pouch setup. I contacted them a while later about making me an SVD rig which they did, I then took that rig to a behindlines.net class. I was really impressed with it during the class, it did everything I wanted it to and ran really well, plus it got favorable nods from the ex military guys in the class, particularly about the quality of stitching. UW was at Dave Fortier's trade show this past summer and apparently their gear was very well received and they made a great impression.

I don't make gear and can't comment on a universal scale but it feels well put together to me. Combined with the opinion of people who know more than I do about this sort of thing I'm happy with what I have, and don't mind recommending them.

For competitions/speed I would get a HSGI AO small chest rig and throw some Tacos on it.
For general use I would get a UW Gear rig, their flap retention is awesome.

Have you considered Strike Hard AK47 Chest Rig?

It is priced very reasonably and all of the reviews I've seen are positive.

Go with Beez. Their product is made very well, their customer service is outstanding and their rigs have been battle tested. I use HSGI gear but a friend bought some Beez stuff and we beat the hell out of it over the last year and it held up very well. Beez is cheaper price wise because you're not paying for the name and he has to compete with so many others.

I guess I am a little out of the loop. I do not recall hearing of Beez before. Looks and sounds like quality gear.

I ordered Strike Hard chest rig a few days ago. My order status is currently "awaiting fulfillment". As soon as I receive the rig, I'll post my initial impressions. Everything I have heard about their products has been good so I am hoping my transaction goes without a glitch and the product is top notch.

I've been beating on a Beez for close to a year now and it's held up nice. I have the standard 5 AK mag chest rig. I've waded through swamps, low crawled through dirt, mud, sand, gravel, rocks, crawled across shallow streams with rock bottoms, climbed trees and walls made of wood, stone, block and brick. Removed and inserted the mags hundreds of times shooting and it's still in one peice. I wasn't being easy with the rig at all because i got it for free from a friend and figured i'd test it like i do all of my gear.

Mind you, i'm a big fan of HSGI and the Beez has impressed me. I don't know about the other rigs you posted because i've only used old school pistol belt and H-type suspenders, Tactical Tailor 2 pc MAV and HSGI rigs.

I use the Beez S-12 chest rig to carry either 3 S-12 10 rounders or 3 40-rd AKM mags. Add a couple of Tacos on there and I can leave the war belt at home.

I am a big fan of UW Gear.  The guys over there just "get it".

If you want a lightening fast rig for gun games, they're not it.

If you like velcro, they're not it.

If you like bungee, they're not it.

If you like light weight systems that securely hold your mags in deep pouches with latches that are silent, simple and durable... then UW Gear has the ideal rig.

Add me to the UW Gear crowd.  I have both the chest rigs for AR's and AKs and bandoleers for both also.  They work as advertised and they are American made by a small patriotic business out of Florida that want to do it right!  Great quality construction, simple, and durable.  I don't mind paying a few bucks more for all of that!

I've seen first hand the time put into UW gear being made. I've hade some one off stuff made by them and I can't say enough good things about their care for a good, solid product...

+1 to all of this, only I have AK stuff... Now I need a 5.56 AR chest rig and bando plus a .308 rig and bando...

The UW Gear guys do it right. Their kit is well thought out and built from high quality materials.

Here's another fan of UW gear. Their unique flap opening system is fast and quiet. I have an AK74 rig and Bandoleer. Both are of bomb-proof construction and their design is well thought out.

Unlike most makers, they aren't trying to market to .mil or people who test their gear in the bathroom mirror.   They build durable, WELL thought-out gear that benefits the civilian rifleman.

After having the S.H. chest rig for a few weeks and taking it out to the field once, I am generally satisfied. The materials and stitching are of high quality. There is plenty of adjustment - a big issue for me as I am a short guy (5'6") and many vests do not fit me perfectly. My only gripe right now is that the chest rig does not have an H-harness. I criss-cross the shoulder straps and it works fine, but the straps fall off if I wear them straight. H-strap could probably be rigged to it fairly easily, but I wish it was provided from factory. Will report how it holds up as time goes on.

BTW, I've only used it with 5.45 and 5.56 mags, and it works very well with both. However, I think it will be less ideal with 7.62 mags due to their curvature. I don't have 7.62 AK right now so I can't confirm this, just a guess.
