Had one ordered for me Friday from Centerfire Systems. I have always been an AR platform guy and own three set up how I like, very basic. A friend of mine recently started buying guns and stated he wanted an AK after I helped him a little bit on his AR basics. He was asking me about them and I did some research. In looking at different setups, I found curiosity getting to me, so I did the most irrational thing, I ordered an AMD. I think it will suit my desires fine. Eventually, I will probably SBR and use it as a suppressor host if possible. Would make a very handy little rifle to keep around with a short barrel. Expensive I know, but makes more sense to me than SBR on an AR which loses a good bit of velocity. On the 5.56, the round depends on that velocity to be effective. With the 7.62, the round is still heavy and effective even if some velocity is lost.
BTW, he went against my research and bought an Inter Ordnance for 600. Hope he gets a good one. I did look at a couple and they appear nice. The plastic furniture is rather cheesy.

The TGI AMD-65 is a perfectly fine platform for an SBR, once you've done the usual due diligence and have confirmed you got a good one. I'm personally planning on SBR'ing mine... throw on an FSC47 and it'll look completely awesome (and also not piss off everyone nearby as much).

Got it today. Looks fairly good as far as quality. All interior parts look really good. The from sight is slightly off center, I was diss appointed about that. Will be shooting it tomorrow. Also ordered some steel mags to see how they fit. I guess I need to order some us furniture and mag springs to cover the 922r rules.

Mag springs are not a 922r compliance part. You need floorplates or followers (or bodies, I suppose). A shame about the front sight, but a gunsmith should be able to fix that if it really bothers you too much.

Been shooting it this afternoon. Zeroed it in 18 rounds using a tool I made. Turns out, after opening the rear sight and giving it a u notch, then centering the front sight between the wings, wind age was right on.  I then turned the post down 1 3/4 turns for a 50 yd zero. Shoots really smooth. My ARs have always been my favorite golf cart gun, this one might just take their place and at 1/3 the cost involved.

Don't SBR it. Just pin one of these on there.
