[ARCHIVED THREAD] - Cheap Gas Tube?

I'm getting an AMD 65 in a couple of weeks, and I want to modify a standard gas tube for it so that I can use standard upper handguards. I have read the process on how to do it, but what is the best place for me to find a cheap gas tube to actually use? I'm new to the AK world, so I don't know the best places to shop yet. Thanks.

I am in that same boat. I have been searching the EE here. I missed out on two today @ 10 bucks each.

Best price I've found is $20 at Apex for a new one. Is that a good price, or is there somewhere else I should be looking?

I think midway or brownells listed new for ~40. So I would say 20 is good. I would seriously consider used from the EE here. You are going to have to refinish it no matter what.

I plan to refinish the whole rifle when I am done. I'll probably go ahead and get the one from Apex unless I find one in the next day or so. I'm fixing to leave for Ft. Bliss for 2 weeks, and I want to have it ordered before I get in the field.
