I'm seriously considering building a M92 or a M85 and have some questions for those of you that own one or have experience with them;
-Can M85s use Galil or other 5.56 AK mags? -Are there any problems with M85s being picky about ammo? -How accurate are they with the short barrels and sight radius? -How is the muzzle blast/rise compared to a 16" barrel AK? -If I am going to have a kit built is there any reason to buy a kit with the barrel already installed? |

The Yugo 5.56 mags are the same width as a 7.62, but are slightly longer.
This is why we have to trim the mid rivet and the back of the magwell on our NDS-Y556 receivers. The other thing that needs to be done occasionally is to cut the selector stop plate so the rear tab of the magazine can sit flush against the bottom of the receiver shell. This will raise the magazine higher and promote better feeding on some builds. This is due to the 5.56 bolt and carrier being slightly "shorter" from top to bottom than a 7.62 assembly. Most of the time they feed just fine. |

Anything can be modified to work, it just depends on how much time you want to sink into it.
An all steel mag would be my first choice for modification because you can weld or solder on it. Galil mags are wider than a "standard" 5.56 / 5.45 mag, so they might work. |

Thanks. Now, anybody know the answers to my other questions?
