So my Wasr has a welded barrel nut on it. I want to put a AK74 style comp on it. I have seen plenty of youtube videos on how to remove the nut  that isnt a big deal. and it is obviously not there to bring it out to 16" OAL Are they not allowed to import the rifles with flash hiders? Do I have to re weld the new comp on? tried to do a Google search on it didnt find a whole lot of info on it

EDIT: I know if I remove the nut I have to attach a US made part for the compliance which Aim has the one I want

You shouldnt have to reweld the comp back on. As far as i know the ones with welded nuts are the post ban versions that cant have threaded muzzles or removable comps. Check to see if the Bayonet lug is filed down as well.

Most likely the nut was welded onto a barrel with threads, simply as a thread protector. Once the nut is welded, it becomes simply part of the barrel and does not count as an imported or USA-made part. With a 16" barrel, you don't need to weld your new brake and can feel free to use a spring plunger in the front sight base for easy installation/removal if it doesn't already have one. Use of a removable USA-made muzzle attachment will not affect your present 922r compliance scheme.

I cut the weld off today and ordered the ak74 comp. Looks like it was just a thread protector
