I took a few pictures after I finished cleaning up from a range trip over the weekend.  Here are the three AK's that have gotten most of my range time in the last 10 years or so...

My first Romy G build.  1986 kit on AUSA receiver.  Over 22k rounds down the pipe and it still runs like a champ.  Went through 3k (Wolf Military) in two days last year when I had some family in town for Memorial Day.   Didn't clean it till everyone left.  It was filthy and reeked of that signature Wolf aroma, but it never missed a beat.

Unfired Polish PKMKS kit built on AUSA receiver.  I had three of these built and the other two are sitting in the vault...just in case.  Next to my Polytech Legend, it's probably the "prettiest" AK i've owned with regards to fit and finish.  No tool marks, perfect metal work.  Almost hated to shoot it.  Has almost 5k down the pipe.  The folder is developing a little bit of play, but otherwise a very solid rifle.

Bulgarian AK74S kit built on AUSA receiver.  Has digested just over 16 tins of Bulgarian 7n6 and may be my favorite semi-auto rifle.  Lighter and more accurate than most of my AR's and cheaper to shoot by a large margin.  The original brake developed a crack and had to be replaced with another Bulgarian unit, but that's the only issue I've had with this gun.  I have a few other Bulgarian kits in the vault that I'll have built for my sons when they get a bit older.  Hopefully, Chris Butler will still be building these things for a while.

And the family shots:

Love the Polish underfolder.  Finest of all the underfolders IMO.  Mine is a safe queen but I still consider it money well spent.

I think the Chicom underfolders are pretty close, if not equal, to the Polish guns in most categories, but I give a slight edge in comfort to the PMKMS for the straight stock.  The angled folder on my Polytech took me a while to get used to.  I haven't shot them side-by-side since I've relegated most of my Chinese AK's to safe-queen status over the years.  I figure they'll be a good investment for my sons when I'm gone and I've got enough Euro AK's to keep them well supplied with shooters.

I wouldn't call them "beaters."  They look much too pretty.

That's completely awesome. I'm up to 7K on my SLR105 and haven't had a hitch yet other than one bad primer.

Great collection btw, can't believe these are beaters

So far, I've had one or two bad primers in each tin of Bulgarian 7n6 I've opened and two hangfires. For the price, I won't complain.   I've been especially impressed with the consistency over my chrono, too.  Much better than I expected from 20+ year old Eastern European surplus ammo.

And while the Polish and Bulgarian AK's don't show much wear (I walk them from the vault to the range in the backyard), the Romanian AKM is beat to hell.  The photo angle and layer of Ballistol hide the scars pretty well.
