Hi,

I've had this Arsenal 107 for several years, but haven't shot it very much. I carried it a lot on my walks, though, for exercise, and for piece of mind. The finish is kind of worn from that.

I decided to get back into the AK, so here it goes. First off, this rifle is to be meant purely for practicality, not for traditional appearance.

I have a .30 YHM suppressor. I originally planned (and maybe will later) turned it into a SBR, but I decided to keep it 16 inch for now.

I replaced the pistol grip with a CAA grip, mostly b/c I did't like the sling getting all tangled every time I opened and closed the stock.

Added the MI handguards set up for the T1 Micro, which I really like.

I did not like the muzzle attachment part of the sight tower, so I had it cut off.

I replaced the safety with the Krebs hold open type, and replaced the stock trigger with the Red Star Arms,

I am having trouble with head position....my face keeps getting smacked by the receiver cover. I had the spring guide edges rounded off, which helps a little. I had made a spongy little cushion glued on the receiver cover, which did help some, but tore off, I'll make another one unless someone has some other suggestions. If I can find a recoil pad that fits, I'd like to add that too.

I was at the range yesterday. I fired about 200 rounds or so, mostly at paper.  Its a lot of fun with the suppressor on....takes away most of the recoil, but of course makes it very front heavy. This is the first time I shot it with the suppressor on. I was kind of dissappointed  on how loud it was. Maybe some blast out of the piston area? It was manageable without hearing protection, but uncomfortable. I did not get any blast back into my eyes. The action was dirty than normal, but nothing like when running an AR.

The rifle is a great shooter, will easily hold 2 inches at 50 yards, maybe better, as I said above, I am getting a flinch.

I am very happy with the set up. I need some more practice, and maybe an AK training class would be nice.

To counteract the noseheaviness somewhat - ditch the MI/ultimak handguards and replace them with AKMNL scope mount: RS Regulate.  That will move some weight towards the receiver area, and make it more manageable.  Or even replace the top cover with a TWS cover, and mount your scope way back by your nose.

I was expecting someone would comment on the FSB....I"m glad to get rid of it. Ugly, useless weight. Unless you were going to go for an original type SBR look, I can't see why anyone would want the threaded part on the FSB. BTW, if anyone wants the screw on cap and screw on barrel sleeve (free) shoot me a PM.  I also have an AK 74 type compensator (but for AK47 threads), a ban type compensator (with AK threads), and a smooth barrel to AK threaded barrel mount, all free to a good home.
