I removed my rear sight and leaf spring on my Bulgy AK-74 to install my TWS Dogleg rail, but now for the life of me I can't get the leaf spring back in. The thing is stiff as hell––much stiffer than my Saiga / SGL-31.
Ideas? It seems like I would need to hammer it in––the groove into which it slides is pretty tight. I'm assuming you install the narrow end first? The problem is I can't get it far enough to get the wide end to get underneath the groove if you know what I mean. I tried sliding the whole thing underneath said groove with the wide end first but then I'd have to bend the narrow end down miraculously to get it into its spot. |

Get a flat head screw driver and press on the leaf spring as far down as you can and keep it stable. Jam the rear sight using your palm and push it in. There are guides along the inside walls of the RSB that you need to line up with the tabs off the rear sight. Perhaps you misunderstood my predicament. I can't get the leaf spring to go back in––I just tried hammering it but now I'm afraid it's stuck. I need the wide part to get past the part so that it can slide underneath but it can't far enough. EDIT: I just realized that I tried to put it in backwards! How to get it out now? Visegrips?

Oh my bad. I get easily confused at this time. Get a wooden dowel and hammer it in from the front towards the rear. Once you get in enough, you can use a flat head to lever it back further (place it between the front of the leaf spring and the front block of the RSB.
Shit, I didn't read that last edit. I'm not sure how you can pull it out if was inserted backwards. I suppose a vise grip at the front and try to hammer it out (hitting the vise grip) using a butt of a screw driver as a buffer. |

I can't give you any helpful tips other then it took me a lot of elbow grease and a good, strong set of pliers or vice grips. I used a little lube as well. Sorry I couldn't help any better. Good luck comrade! |
