How do the 2 compare? I own 2 PSL's and am thinking of buying a Yugo M76. I've owned one 8mm rifle before (the FN49) but still know little about the cartridge so enlighten me please. How does the accuracy compare, how is the range of 8mm vs 7.62x54R etc etc??
Also there seems to be a couple different M76 out there what should I look out for and are the Century decent (I know the normal drunk monkey stuff) |

The M76 was designed for the heavier round (196gr IIRC) and the Romanian stuff is 150. Was all over the place out of my rifle. Also, beware of the 50's surplus 8mm, no good in the semi-auto's. Been blowing them up. |

It can do a little better than that with a load it really likes and worse with a load it doesn't. I shoot Romy 150 gr. surplus, commercial Prvi (198 gr. FMJBT and 196 gr. SP), and M75 out of mine without issue. The Romy is reliable but dirty (sooty). My M75 is stash ammo. I get good results with the commercial Prvi and shoot it the most. The 198 gr. FMJBT load closely replicates the M75 round in terms of ballistics and is my personal favorite. M75 used to be hard to come by but is readily available at the present time. |
