Instead of buying the tool, how about making one? If I understand correctly by looking at it, you just screw it down to push the sight post left or right correct? I notice the side of the tool that the threaded part screws TOWARDS to has a hole to allow the cylinder to go past flush of the front post.
Now, how about a small c-clamp for the pushing force. On the other side, couldn't a piece of steel with a hole drilled in it (big enough to allow that cylinder to come past flush). Basically a washer with an ID bigger than that cylinder but and OD big enough to contact the c-clamp and the sight post. Am I painting a good picture of what I am thinking? It sounds like it would work to me, but I have never used the correct tool so I don't have the experience to compare it to. Thoughts? |

Quoted: Quoted: when I looked at the price tag lol. Thanks $10? C-clamp and sockets will cost more than that. Tapco makes a good tool, you can find them for $10-15. If the cost of the tool presents a financial obstacle, you're probably living beyond your means by owning the rifle. |

I've seen them made from I-beam clamps for threaded rod.
These are heavy steel "U" shaped clamps with both sides threaded for a bolt. By drilling out one threaded end to fit over the sight drum, and soldering or gluing a piece of sheet brass on the end of the other bolt, you can make a super strong AK sight tool. A bigger clamp may not even need the hole drilled out. You can buy them from McMaster-Carr and most industrial supply houses. |
