Ok so about a year ago I bought an arsenal ak from these boards and absolutely love the thing. It came with XS big dot front sights on it and I think they may have used red loctite to secure the sight. At this point I don't care about preserving the XS sights, I just want them out. With pliers I was able to get about a 1/4 turn, that's it. Any suggestions or should I just take it to a gun smith?

Heat it. Loctite should melt. I think the green stuff requires a hell of a lot of heat, but the red should come right out with a little heat. you might be able to use a soldering gun, but if not a lighter might work and a torch definitely will. The green stuff is a m'fer if its red heat should do the job. If they used green they werent being very nice. |
