I'm pretty new to the Ak world and i'm liking it. But, i'm going to have to adjust a front sight. Any advice where I might find an inexpensive yet reliable front sight adjustment tool?

Sarco had them in the last issue of the ShotGun News for $9.95 plus shipping.

Do NOT buy a cheap Chinese made "C clamp" style sight adjustment tool. It will not work to adjust windage on any AK that is not Chinese made because the hole in the "leg" is smaller than the diameter of the slide.
If the front sight post is tight it won't adjust elevation because the steel is soft and the tool will break.
TAPCO makes a decent "C clamp" style tool.  There are other styles which work as well.

Tapco works fine for me.

I've got a UTG, was like $7. It's fairly beefy steel wise, and hasn't been an issue for me. That said, it is helpful to spray some penetrating oil on the sight drum in advance so that moving it isn't too terribly difficult.

Tapco is sort of the "standard" tool for AK owner's.
It's good quality and does the job.  It adjusts the front sight for both elevation and windage.

Make sure the hole in the tool will pass the windage drum on your rifle.  Some AK's have bigger drums and the tool's hole will not fit over the drum.
If not, simply drill the hole out larger.

I've had my share of Tapco and Chinese C-clamps break on me. I went ahead and bought the Magna-Matic AKFST after getting great input from ARFCOM members here. It moved the most frozen of my sights, whereas cheaper ones have failed and eventually broke. It's thirty bucks, but that's a small price for piece of mind. I guess even when it comes to sight tools, 'buy once, cry once.'

If you only have one AK, or even two, you might not need to go with the AKFST. But if you plan on owning more AK rifles(and you will ) you might as well opt for the more expensive AKFST.

EDIT: With past c-clamps, I would have to soak the front sight tool in penetrating oil for at least a day. The AKFST does not need this.

Tapco has worked great for me for the past six years.

I have the TAPCO tool, and while it works on my SKS, it will not work on my WASR due to the aforementioned hole being too small. I am contemplating getting a MOJO rear sight for my AK, however if I do not I will be getting the Magna-Matic tool.

I appreciate the input yall! Good info here. I bought an AMD-65 a little while back and some how a second one has appeared also. I'll take the group consensus and grap up a Tapco front sight tool.

Is that tool actually marked TAPCO .COM USA?  At one time (several years ago) TAPCO sold Chinese made tools.
The TAPCO marked tool has worked on every Romanian AK on which I have used it.

Get the  magna-matic tool. No need to waste time or money on the others. I have tried them all;  USA made tapco, Chinese cheap imports, norinco. Get the best and be done with it.

If all you can afford is the USA made tapco it is a good tool but wont work on a Krink unless you grind it to be wider.

Member Nealstang on the AK Forum sells Polytech sight adjustment tools. This is the most robust sight tool I have ever used and it will work with the most stubborn of sights.

I agree. Don't cheap out on a front sight tool. I've wasted hard-earned money on ones that bent and didn't even budge the front sight.

I've been very impressed with the B-Square kit. Very high quality.

I just use some sockets out of my socket wrench set and a vice. My front sight wouldn't budge until I tried this . I'm cheap ..... I know

Holy crap that was quick! I ordered the Tapco front sight tool from Brownells and I already got it in the mail!
Haven't tried it yet, looks like a range trip is in order.

I have a magna-matic one myself.  You arn't going to break one.  Went threw a couple of CH-ina tools before getting fed up.  I've used it on a couple of Mauser bolt guns too.

+1 on B-Square.

I have used one made by them for several years.  Strong and has worked where the C-clamp styles have failed and even broken on me.

If the Tapco worked for you consider yourself lucky, I broke mine trying to adjust elevation on an SLR 105, and it would not even budge windage on an SAR1, even after soaking in WD40 for days. Bought the Magnamatic, it worked great on both. Magnamatic is tool steel, Tapco is made from recycled pork & bean cans.
