I'm kinda new to the word of ak's, but a buddy of mine has an "AMD 65" and is looking at putting a quad rail on it.  The unknown is if the forearm is compatible with normal ak's?  And if not, where/who makes a quad rail for this?

Thanks

The forearms from normal ak's need to be modded a little but can be made to work, of course the gas tube has no allowance for an upper handguard and isn't the same length as a regular ak gas tube so putting an upper handguard on is a lot harder.  But the Midwest Industries and Ultimak quadrails will work on an AMD65.  The midwest rail is lighter and won't cowitness with iron sights if using a red dot, but only costs about $115.  The ultimak setup is heavier but more solid and gives more rail space.  It will also cowitness with some red dots, but will run about $300.  For Ultimak make sure he gets the right gas tube and handguard lengths for an AMD65.  I can't say anything about the other quad rails on the market.
