When I had my Maadi, I would on occasion bumpfire it. Now that I have a Lancaster Russian Red with a Tapco G-2 trigger, it doesn't want to bumpfire. Is it just because of the trigger? I know it is kind of useless to do this anyway but just curious.

Nope you just need to learn it again every rifle is different I can bump my ar15 and my sam7 my romy g and my wasr. my G has a tapco and so does my wasr. but each one is different and takes a moment to get the grip right to bump . did you hip bump thumb through the belt loop pulling forward on forearm.
Do you strong arm it trying to get a bump cause this is more difficult with certain guns try either till one works I am sure others will chime in
