Will I have any issues threading the end of a 7.62x39 barrel with 1/2-28 threads? Is 3/32" cross-section thick enough in this area at the muzzle of the barrel?

I personally wouldn't cut it that close but it has been done.

When you have a MAK 90 where the muzzle has been turned down so it can't be threaded the proper 14mm, then 1/2x28 is the next size down, & what people use. AK style slant brakes & muzzle nuts are available in that size.  GARY  N4KVE

ADCO may be able to turn the barrel down and install a 1/2 x 28 threaded sleeve if there will be sufficient barrel thickness left between the bore and sleeve.
