Either a squib or a headspace problem. No way to know without detailed pictures of the rifle.
It really could be either a bore obstruction or headspace issue because it looks like somebody has been doing some sandbox gunsmithing on it. Edit: if you pause the video at just the right time you can see the trunnion ripped completely out of the receiver. |
| I would think that an out of battery fire would blow the dust cover off and hit the operator in the face, not blow the whole gun apart. I assume that the energy in a smokeless powder load that small, without being highly contained could not do that much damage. My guess would be some kind of explosive loaded in the casing, much hotter than the intended smokeless powder load. There are lots of blowing up AK videos online. Kinda scary stuff. |
