[ARCHIVED THREAD] - Guidance needed..

I am ready to purchase an AK style rifle and would like to have some input. I am fairly new to this style of rifle and I am looking forward to learning the in's and out's of the AK.
The few on my list are:
Red Jacket rj132 (Atlantic Firearms) $600
Chris Butler AK104 $1100
Arsenal SGL21 $700
Arsenal SLR 107CR $999

Any input would be greatly appreciated.

I'd go with one of these.... I am unhappy with KVar/Arsenal and it kills me to say so, but

Want the best of the best ?
Galil or Valmet.

IMO the Valmet is the best deal in a quality AK other than the magazine prices and thats what keeps their prices down.

Also look at real live milled Czech built VZ-58's at waffenworks for $700.

arsenal sgl, without hesitation. The CR's are really only practical if you're planning on SBR'ing them.

I think i have my choices narrowed down to a Vz58 and an Arsenal SGL21. I have spent the last couple days reading up on the Vz58 at the advice of lightguy and I am pretty impressed with what i have read. Anyone have input on these two particular rifles?

It is a bit odd you are after a 1st AK and you are leaning towards a non-ak: vz-58. It is a nice rifle and at a good price. I like the AK over the VZ because parts and mags are cheap and eazy to find, not just on the internet but at most gun shops. If the VZ actually took AK mags etc, I would jump on it.

Otherwise, I would say Arsenal from your list.
