Does this mount pictured in the link below place the optic off to the left or centerline of the rifle?

http://www.kalinkaoptics.com/rifle-scopes/red-dot/ak-vepr-saiga-slr/pk-a-military-fast-acquisition-red-dot-rifle-scope-ak-version.html

If anyone is using one of these your input would be much appreciated.

I'd recommend this one instead:

It's a little cheaper than Kalinka and is the military issue hammer grey model. The black versions are civilian and probably aren't quite as tough as the grey ones. I had one similar to the model you linked from Kalinka and the dot would go off during strings of shooting, its the only combloc optic I have ever had a problem with.

I have the Grey version pictured above. Its sits lower than the commercial version too, but the mount will not fit on all rails. Also, you get a great deal if halo indoors, on all but the lowest settings, but it disappears outdoors.

It is offset slightly to the left, and as a left handed shooter, I get a perfect cheek weld. No more hunting fo r the dot for me. In fact, I bought one just because it was $60 shipped, and it was so much faster than the Kobra I was using, do to the repeatable cheek weld, that I immediately sold the Kobra.

Than bad news for right handers is, you either sight with your left eye, or you get no cheek weld at all. Truth be told, you are SUPPOSED to sight with your left eye, (with commie off-set scopes) if you are right handed, but most folks just can't do it.

The grey version is the real deal.

I had both versions, the gray one and later  the black one.  They both  sat sl. to the left of center but really was not an issue for me. the gray one was also lower and had a better cheekweld. These optics are ok but are bulky and have a short battery life. I used 1/3 N cell batteries as they lasted a bit longer than two LR44s.  The dot is also not as bright as current red dots. Even the cheaper micro dot asian clones are brighter and last longer.  One other option is to use a BP-02 mount or similar with a Primary Arms red dot sight.

I'm right handed and right eye dominant and the left offset has never been an issue for me with any combloc optic. The PK-A actually works best with both eyes open, the scope body becomes indistinct and your FOV feels natural, the dot is easy to see and target acquisition is quick.

Wow, thanks for the pics, it really gives me a better idea how it sits on the rifle and what kind of cheek weld I would be getting.

I have been wanting to put a red dot on my AK mainly for Tac rifle competitions. I shoot my AR's mainly for competition but want to switch things up a little and run the AK. I like the hammer grey PK-A as it has a classic look to it and would go along well with my AK.

Posted this pic before but this is the AK it will be going on.

dntama, I don't have any experience with LR44s...are the 1/3 N cell batteries similar in size and compatible with the RDS without modification?

The 1/3 N is the same size as two LR44s put together. It is the same battery that the older aimpoints used. No modifications needed to use them.

Awesome...thank you for clearing that up for me.
