I have always liked the look of the PSL rifle and I am at a point now where I can go ahead and purchase one.  My question is (I have little to no any experience with AK style rifles)... Where would be the best place to purchase one of these rifles?  Also, are there certain companies to stay away from or are they all about the same?

Thanks...

The ones with USA made recievers have no BHO devices built in. I have a Century like that. But it was well made and runs well. Good rifle.

Many PSL mags were refinished and then put back together with the spring in the mag backwards. That means the rear of the lifting block doesn't have enough pressure on it and it tends to sag at the rear messing up the feeding of rounds. There's an article on the web somewhere about this, but I don't have a link handy. I have 16 PSL mags and went through them to check them. Only four had the springs in correctly! A few were gummed up with cosmolene too. They actually worked OK before with the just an occassional problem. I checked six of them after correcting it and they all ran 100%! Nice change. Good to check these. Takes just minutes to clean and lube and put the spring in correctly.

Some have bayo lugs, some don't. Some have pinned FH's, some don't. Some are finished nice and some are rough. I recommend you inspect before buying.
I haven't tested my c\Century at 100 yards yet. But it makes three shot cloverleafs at 25 yards. My older PSL, a TGI build, gets 2" groups at 100 yards with the good 1960's Czech silvertip surplus.

The general consensus on these is they are 2-3 moa rifles. Better ammo may help. But I am cheap and happy with the old Czech silvertip ammo.
