If the barrel length is 12.6" technically wouldn't this work based on the measurements if permanently attached?

Part of the overall combination length is lost as the muzzle attachment is threaded onto the barrel. Once tightened, the overall length of a 12.6" barrel and this flash hider will be less than 16".

No it will not work.  You are not allowing for screwing the device on the barrel. That would work if it didn't need to be screwed on.  You would need a short extension to use that one.

Ahh, good points. This is why I asked, as in this case I obviously didn't think about screwing it in. I was just trying to avoid buying a barrel extension, but it looks like it's going to be a must if I want to deviate from the standard AMD muzzle break. (I'm more interested in a flash hider)

Matt once I get paperwork back from the ATF I am taking my extended AMD-65 muzzle brake and sellling it on the EE. I am going to have mine looking correct at that point because to me the current look with the extension is retarded looking. .

Assuming the original AMD-65 barrel, the extension has to be 4.25" long. You can either use the original brake plus an extension pipe or the Tapco one-piece extension brake (shown) that looks just like the original up front. Any barrel extension has to be blind-pinned and welded-over.

You can find them on Gunbroker most of the time.

What about using the NDS-28, Tabuk FH.

By itself, the NDS-28 Tabuk flash hider is not long enough to extend the barrel to 16+". You could use the Tabuk flash hider and a barrel extension and permanently install both pieces as part of the original barrel.

I have already figured that one out. I have an AMD 65 barrel and I thought the NDS-28 by itself, would be long enough to bring the barrel to 16in.
