I just acquired a home built Romy G build and I need to check the headspace. It is an all matching kit and looks unfired built on a ewbanks receiver.
I have read conflicting reports on the entire headspace issue. A lot of guys say just shoot it and don't worry. Most also say don't waste your money on GO and just get no - go. If it will close on a live round and not close on a no-go gauge would it be ok? |

Call me overly cautious, but if ididn't have both gauges I would try the rifle with multiple cartridges and if all of them chambered, I would clamp the rifle to a test stand and fire it from 25 feet away.
I would also buy a good receiver and rebuild the rifle when (not if) the problems with the current receiver showed up.
