If I just wanted a low dollar plinking gun, which would be cheaper? To buy one or buy a kit and a lower?

I doubt you'll build one for less than the cost of a wasr. Building is for the fun and challenge of doing it yourself, not a way to save money IMHO.

That's what I figure, I've build several AR15's and they always cost more. Thanks

Not to mention that an AR is assembled and an AK is built. The two are really different when discussing building one yourself. An AK takes quite a few more specific tools and fixtures that, unless you are already set up, would add to the cost and make it not worth doing just to build one cheap plinker.
