Alright so my Maadi is almost finished, just have to drop in a fire control group. Here's the dilema, I don't recognize any of the parts in the fcg that came with my kit. I'm thinking about just dumping my PSL's trigger assembly in there and getting something nicer for it. Any problems there? Also, the kit came with two tiny springs. The shorter one I believe goes on the dentent for the muzzle break, what about the other though? It flew across the shop and I haven't been able to find it, so unless it goes with the fcg and I don't need it, where can I find one? Thanks! PS, pics coming soon! |

If you were working with the fcg, it could have been the disconnector spring. Its really hard to say without pics, though. |

If the spring you lost was a short coil spring it was either the spring for the detent for the muzzle device or the disconnector spring. You need both. Most US made fire control groups do not come with a disconnector spring. |

Yep, it sounds like the disconector spring.
Is your Maadi one of the kits Apex had for $205 a few months ago? What did you do for a receiver? I built a Maadi kit from Apex a few months ago. I bent my receiver from an ak-builder flat, and put a Tapco G2 single hook trigger in it. It looks good and shoots like a dream. It was one of the most rewarding projects that I've ever done. I'm hooked on building, and I'm ordering an AK-74 kit today Disco spring. http://www.brownells.com/.aspx/sid=50046/pid=23481/sku/Disconnector_Spring?utm_medium=shoppingengine&utm_source=googlebase&mc_id=10000&gdftrk=gdfV21820_a_7c187_a_7c745_a_7c430000410_d_430000362_d_4287 |

Yes its an Apex kit. I used the NDS-3 and welded over the S and F marks, as well as the saftey detent. I then ground the welds down flush with a tiger paw. A friend has a laser and a couple other methods of engraving, and I'm going to let him help me put the proper Arabic markings on it for semi and full auto. I yanked the trigger group outa my PSL to put in the Maadi, and I'm going to get a better trigger for my PSL. BTW, it shot great! Pics coming whenever I quit being so lazy.... |
