Hey guys, AK newb here, been lurking on this site for a while but thought I'd register and say hello and share my modified WASR10. I've mainly been interested in handguns in the past, and wasn't even interested much in semi auto rifles (AR or AKs and the like) until I bought this WASR at a gun show. I was actually looking to buy a ruger .22 pistol, then discovered I could by an AK for the same (or less) price! But after getting familiar with the operation and mechanics behind the gas system and action, and all the history behind the AK platform, I got sucked in. Thnking about buying an Arsenal now ;)

| I hope you Sightmark red dot lasts longer than mine. I had the same exact sight and it made it out to the range twice before it died. The glass shattered and it didn't even take an impact. I could never get it to hold zero with the recoil from the AK so I didn't even bother RMA'ing it. I just bought the Bushnell TRS-25 but haven't made it to the range yet to try it out but the general consensus on this site is it's a great sight. Good luck! |

I made the mistake of buying three of them though, so you guys all got lucky. Neither of the three would hold zero, they were mounted on a 10/22, Saiga, and AR-15. |

Thanks for the welcome! A few follow up comments...
1) Arsenals, I mention them only because I'm interested in finding an AK that has a really nice parkerized (or similar) finish on it... This wasr came out of the box with all kinds of tool marks on it... I've even seen lots of other wasrs in better shape than mine at gun shows... Of course, I have yet to experience a single mechanical or feed problem with it after 500~ rounds. I'm open to suggestions on other rifles that are well finished though. 2) Sightmark... Bought it at a fun show before reading reviews (which I usually do before making a purchase) only to find there are way more negative reviews than positive on this sight. I've ony been to the range twice with it, and did have to re-zero it slightly. It looks like a solidly built unit, which is what sold me... And not wanting to fork out 400 bucks for an eotech ;) We'll see how it goes... |
