| I'd like to put a substantial portion of my ammo that is not in mags on stripper clips. What would be a fair price to pay and where could i find them? Would i need a spoon to load them in magazines? Had very little experience with these things since i was born in 1984. Only firearm i've ever used clips for was pops' garand. |

You need a magazine guide to use stripper clips to fill an AK magazine.
The Chinese make relatively small metal version. It works if you remember to press the back of the guide against the back of the magazine, or you put an appropriate sized shim in the inside of the front of the guide to accomplish the same thing. Some company makes a large plastic version with a separate plunger. It works well. I have no idea where to get a deal on stripper clips. All mine were loaded with Chinese made ammunition when I opened the tins all those years ago. |

I love the stripper clips, I have @300 of them, I also use the Chinese installation tool with the plunger to install them. The only trick with the plunger is to hold the body tight and flat onto the top of the mag when inserting the strip of 10 rounds (a little lubricate may also be needed on the plunger). This speeds the loading process of a 30 round mag to less that 10 seconds, this would allow you to reload at the range quickly of you do not have enough mags (if your stripper clips are already loaded)..
The only downside of it is loading the 7.62 x 39 rounds onto the stripper clips, this take some time and patience. Fortunately my wife does knitting while watching television and I have found that she can load a 1,000 case onto stripper clips in @30 minutes without even looking up. She has even done three 1,000 cases one time only this time she used her gardening gloves to avoid blisters. This way when I reload my mags it takes a few minutes to load 20-30 mags. And no, she will not load yours, you have to find your own wife or girlfriend, mine is a keeper. |
