I've seen the use of an HK drum rear, but I haven't seen anyone put a triple frame on their AK! Great job! Yeah, I'm impressed, but come'on, are you going to share how you accomplished this or not? You need to do a thread explaining the processes you used to do this rifle. Oh, yeah. Sorry about that. I didn't do the work, but rather it was a joint effort of my gunsmith and a friend. The gunsmith removed the front sight and mounted the HK G3 front sight over the barrel, in front of the Yugo gas block. I don't know if he welded it onto the spot where the FS was, but it appears that way. I then had a friend weld a piece of conduit onto the gas block (Yugo M70ab2 has an extra thick layer there) and into the second ring of the G3 sight. I covered up the end with a metal end cap from Lowes. http://www.ak47.net/forums/topic.html?b=4&f=92&t=127873 |

Damn... glad I saw the pics before reading the description.
It sounds pretty "rigged" but the end result actually came out pretty nice. I'm not a huge fan of underfolders, or of railed forends, but that is just a personal taste thing and I do like the way the sights came out. Just looking at the pics I originally thought that you had somehow transformed the FSB into a gas block and had extended the gas tube forward to meet it. Now that you've explained it and I've looked closer at the details I see that I had missed a couple of things, like the original GB still being there where it belongs. Either way, I still like what you did. Very innovative. |

Now, if I could somehow use G3 hand guards that would be cool. |

That seems counterintuative to me. The further away from my eye the Micro dot is the less 'looking through a tube' tunnel vision I experience. I also find the dot is much easier for me to pick up and place on my target fast. Try it if you can. |

Not all that tactical, just some synthetic furniture. Do plan on putting a Hogue pistol grip on it though, haven't made up my mind whether or not to strip/polish the bolt carrier.

I don't know what it is about the Galil-style pistol grips, but I just love the way the damned things look.

What kind of stock adapter is that? That big ass block sticking out of the rear of the receiver would annoy me to no end.
Aside from that, I say well done sir. FYI i have read reports of those ACE grip adapters breaking however i have never used one myself. |

Yes, its an ACE drop in adapter. On my next build I plan on using the internal block with the same stock set up, but to be honest this one does not bother me at all. I have not shot it much with the AR grip adapter so I have no real feedback, but Im not sure what could break. Its a solid piece of plastic with a bolt running through it squeezing your AR grip into your receiver. If it does it was only a $6.00 part and I switch back to a grip made for the rifle.

As far as tactical goes, that underfolder looks pretty sweet. (EDIT): And please explain how that chin rest works. |
