My question is this:  does all this talk of 5.45 keyholing center on the Century-made Tantal rifle: i.e., are the other clones being made from Saigas, Bulgarian kits, etc. fine?    I'd like to hear from AK-74 owners about this before I invest in a 5.45 rifle.    If I understand the issue, some owners of the CAI Tantal rifle say they are fine.   Others say they keyhole with milsurp but shoot 60 and 70-grain fine.    Some say that theirs shoot ALL rounds fine and some say they keyhole with ALL rounds.    This is quite a variation in outcomes.   What the hell did CAI do with the barrels?    I have heard some say that they used 5.56 barrels in the tantal rifle.    I don't know but this would seem pretty incredbile.     My first impulse would be to buy a 5.45 Saiga or a rifle built from Bulgarian parts with an original Bulgarian barrel by somebody like Troy Sellars.

I've had 3xAK-74s...a Romy, an Arsenal and a K-Var Bulgy kit with nary a problem.

I've never had a Century

CAI did use 5.56 barrels in their tantals for a run or two.
CAI did not use the correct spec 5.45 barrels too for a bit.
CAI uses a slower twist rate than original 5.45 barrels.  These were the first AK variants w/ a 1:9 twist rate, produced by CAI.
CAI lied and made up excuses for their failures and scamming.
CAI has been known to hire monkeys to build their rifles, sometimes one eyed drunk monkeys
If i want to gamble w/ my money, i go to a casino....

This seems to pretty much say it all.    I am glad I recently bought a 5.45 rlfle built by Troy Sellars.   If I want to gamble, I'll go to a casino rather than buying a Century AK-74.

Did you get one of the ones that was for sale on the AK forum?  I got one of them, it was very nice and had a very low serial number as well .
