I should be able to get a nice arsenal ak sometime pretty soon. Maybe a couple months from now but i dont know when. The two that I am interested in are the SLR-107F and the SGL21. Is either one really better than the other? The sgl21 is $699 and the slr107f is $859. Which would you get? thanks
I have a yugo m70ab2 but its currently at century being repaired due to a messed up magwell. I got that because I have always like underfolders. Now that I got me an underfolder, I would like to get a very nice high quality ak. Is the only difference between the sgl and slr the folding stock and where the receiver comes from? One of the votes for the slr is from me just so I could see the poll. |
| The reason i like underfolders is because the gun stays the same width when folded. I thought the side folder was cool at first but I dont think its something I would use and the sling swivel is on the wrong side. I have an underfolder so I may as well go with a fixed version. I think I will go with the sgl21 because I can put wood on it if i want real easy and its $160 cheaper. |

SGL-31 ![]() I was thinking about that but I would like to have one more 7.62x39 ak before I venture off into other calibers. I have a yugo m70ab2 but since its not chrome lined I would like to have a nice chrome lined 7.62x39 ak and I want either the slr 107f or the sgl21 |

What is the little lever looking thing in the red circle? This is an slr 107f. that's the latch for the folding stock in the folded position makes sence. Then is the button that sticks out of the rear of the stock the release for that? yep |

It will cost you $160 in parts alone to turn the SGL in to a similar rifle as the SLR, if you can't squish rivets yourself add another $200 bare minimum to that for someone to install a side folder. |

I like the look of wood stocks on an AK. Just makes it more impressive and "raw" looking in my opinion.
That being said, the Arsenal line uses American made furniture to bring it in compliance with 922(r). The only manufacturer of wood furniture that is American made (that I know of) is Ironwood Designs. Unfinished so you can finish in whatever color or style you'd like. But because taking an SLR and putting new un-folding furniture on it is a waste of money, I voted SGL21. |

But it would be a waste to get a folding stock/trunnion then switch it for a non-folding stock/trunnion. |

Would it be hard to install an underfolding stock on an sgl21? Would i have to get a new rear trunion or does the kit from k-var have everything I would need? thanks Yes that would be a tough job and you would have to change the rear trunion. I would definitely get the SLR 107F, that would be my choice

I personaly dont think optics belong on ak`s except for maybe a laure irondot. I like irons on an ak Then why did all of those Eastern European countries issue their rifles with optics rails on the side of the receiver? Appearances aside, most modern rifles benefit from the addition of optical sights. Quoted:
