Thinking about picking one of these up to then converting it to a more modern type assault rifle.  For those of you who have done this, who'd you get to do the conversion?  And if you did it yourself, how difficult was it?

I had my Saiga 12 gauge done by Jim Fuller of Rifle Dynamics.  Excellent work.

Did it myself and it wasn't difficult at all. Don't be afraid of taking a dremel to them. It may seem daunting, but it really is quite easy to do. Just go slow.

Here is the one I converted.

That's a great looking rifle man, love the pics.

How are you liking that stock setup??  I've been considering an Ace folder for my Saiga also.

I like the stock set up a lot. When I ordered it, I ordered the wrong length by mistake and ended up with the shortest stock the offer. It ended up working out well, so I kept it. The only thing different I would have probably done is order their push button folding mechanism.

That's basically what I'd want mine to look like.

By the way, how much did it cost to have them convert it for you?

I bought my S12 from Tromix- just over a grand

I converted my .308 myself- the only work I farmed out was mounting a '74 FSB.  I still have to finish it- maybe this summer it will get molyresin.

It is very very easy with only basic tools needed. This is my S12 parts should cost around $150 depending on which stock you go with.

Do it a very easy job did mine in my living room LOL the parts minus your stock are about $60.  If your lucky you will already have PG nut hole that will save you about an hour.  Its very rewarding to do yourself and will save you allot of coin.

Yeah, I think I may attempt it.  Just nervous about it because I've never really done any metal work or anything.  However, I really don't want to spend about $300 paying someone to do it for me.

Any suggestions on a website or anything that lists tools needed and what needs to be done.  I know of this one:  http://www.cross-conn.com/Saiga_Conversion/ .  Would that method be the same for the 5.45x39?
