So finally got around to sighting in my Yugo Underfolder, Its sighted in but the front post is as far right as it can go. My problem is, is that its kinda an unnatural feel to it being that far right. The front sight ears do act somewhat like GRS in so much that when you start to aim you naturally go to the center of the ears. Then I have to search somewhat for the front post, to the far right.
So as far as common wisdom goes. Is there anyway to move/tilt the front sight assembly a smidge to re-adjust the the works so the post can ,when readjusted, be more twards the center? Small thing I know but really has an unnatural feel to it when shooting. Thanks in advance |

Sure, it's easy.
pop out the old pins straighten the FSB overdrill the pin holes to the next smallest size that wil work fab some new pins to the right OD for a tight fit in the new holes press new pins in. Of course you might find that the FBS doesn't want to move even with the pins pressed out, so you might actually have to press the sucker off, then line up the FSB by hand and press it back on. Worst case scenario, I could do it in an hour. |
| Look at the rear sight leaf to see if it's offset to the right. If so, take a hammer and beat it to the left. Even if its centered, beat it to the left. When you can shoot it again you'll find that you'll be moving the front sight back toward the center. Show some common sense about hitting the sight. Really, you can hit it with a piece of wood rather than a hammer, but a non-marring (plastic/rubber) hammer would be good, and we're only talking a small shift. What happens is the little ears on the sight leaf that it hinges on will be bent a little and the sight will stay as you leave it. A 1/8" shift would be a big adjustment and pretty much the limit. If you post a picture from behind the rear sight I can advise you on it. Remember, the rear sight follows the direction you want the point of impact to move, and the front sight goes the opposite way. So, something is out of line and making the gun shoot right, which is why you had to move the front sight right to make the POI move left. If you can 'swedge' the rear sight left, the POI will shift left, so the front sight can move left by that same amount to center the POI and have the sight post in a better place. I had the exact same thing on an AMD-65 and this is exactly what I did. The rear sight stays where I put it even after flipping up the leaf and setting it back down. |
