I've run one on my Saiga 12. It works well, just mine is dim in sun light.

I can do about 3" at 50 yards with slugs with my kobra, so yeah, I think it's a good idea

I've been tempted to get a Kobra or put an Eotech on mine, but then I shoot it and find that it points naturally enough at the ranges I'll shoot it. It's hard to resist the urge to optic it 'cause it would be cool, just not the best way to spend my money IMO. So I keep buying 12 round mags instead

I have had kobra, EOtech and aimpoint m2 on my saiga 12 and their are benefits and disadvantages to all three. You can sometimes get the kobras used for cheap from 100-200 they are Russian the gun is Russian so it just looks right. The problem is sometimes quality, the older sights are rough and don't have the biggest or clearest reticule although the newer styled ones are better quality.  EOtech are great because the dot is large enough for shot but small enough for a slug. The sight picture is big and clear and they are tough. The cost of a used 511 is about 300 so the optic is not cheap same with aimpoint m2. I say the more expensive sights are just too much sight for a 600 shotgun but if ya got the money may as well. I currently have an aimpoint compM on my saiga this is an older Aimpoint that is close to the M2 you can get them for the same price as the Kobra and I think they are better quality and have a better sight picture. P.S look on the Equipment Exchange here on AR15, ebay or gunbroker for the best prices.

Thought I'd throw this out there as well.

I've read here and there that there are a lot of cheap knock offs of kobra sights floating around out there, so just be aware of that...
