Hello guys this is my first post. I have a question about an ak 74 I just bought. It is bulgarian with the triangular side folding stock.  It was put together by armory usa.
I have not had much luck finding any info about them other than they now do airsoft guns.  Does anyone here remember much about the company.

not sure, but I think they may be the same as Arsenal Houston? I could be wrong. And welcome and congrats on the new rifle!!

Post pics btw! I'll start!

this one was made by Arsenal houston for sure. It was built during the ban, so it had the rear stock welded shut.

.

Now known as Elk River Tool and Die.   They still do builds and sell parts, receivers and completed rifles.

GlobalTrades, Armory USA, Elk River ...  all the same company.  Before NoDak Spud theirs were the receivers many of us used.

Yours is likely a very good build as they did good work.

I think it is a different company doing the airsoft stuff.

Welcome. Great buy.

Armory USA Rifles use NDS receivers  (the best on the market IMO)
Can't remember if the barrels are original or US made.

If it's chrome lined, it's Original. Plain steel, US made.

armory usa is now defunct but they built their own receivers.  elk river tool and die bought their equipment and continued to manufacture the receivers under their name.  somewhere in there arsenal usa fits in.

Are you sure Lambo?
I don't remember anyone else other than NDS making 5.45 side folder receivers.

Wouldn't be the first time I'm wrong though.

i own one. it's an arsenal usa ssr-74-2. not to be confused with arsenal of nevada. the receiver reads "arsenal usa houston texas"

the receiver is 1.6mm not the standard 1mm.

The bulk of ORF's sidefolders were built on AUSA AKS-74(esk) receivers, ORF did switch to NDS in the end. A US made Armory USA  ( Elk RIver etc) receiver is very easy to identify from a mile away, the receiver dimples are somewhat squared where as the NDS receiver dimples are a tad smaller as far as height as well as being oval.

Their tooling was baught by Elk River machine and tool, their recievers are now made by this company and when they can find parts they make rifles.
