Got a question...I have a brand new SSR 85 C-2 and took it out to fire a few rounds of Wolf..
well...out of 18 rounds...3 of them fail to fire ? I looked at the firing pin (striker) indentation on the shell and it seemed deep enough. So then I tried my Mak-90 and took a look...BTW...I had no misfires with the Mak...same ammo. The indentations were just a little deeper...noticeable when you hold them side by side. I disassembled both weapons to take a look at each striker and see how far it sticks out of the bolt. Well...the SSR is actually longer. And then I noticed the hammer was much tighter than the Mak...like it's in a bind ? The bolt or rivet actually turns a little as I move the hammer back and forth. I oiled them down pretty good and still is tight. The problem is in the hammer obviously because its not striking the bullet hard enough. anybody got an easy fix ? |

Could be a number of things, the hammer could be too wide for the opening in the receiver.
This could be due to a slightly too narrow receiver (it happens) Or the inner rails could be too thick. If this is the case, you'll have to trim a little material off the side of the hammer. But first you need to make sure it's not something simple, like an improperly installed shepards crook or retainer plate. Could just be something squished in the opening of the hammer where the pin goes. I'd take the FCG apart and check for abnormalities. While you're in there, check the pivot sides of the hammer for signs of rubbing. |

Its like the bolt is too tight inside the hammer compared to the Mak-90.
I mean it will come forward O.K. ...but you can tell it's in a bind a little... I hate taking this thing apart
I can field strip an AK...just never messed with the trigger group.... I'm hopin' the oil will creep in there...... |
