I just got the SGL21-66. (picatinny rails) Off the bench no problem but when standing and free firing my damm cleaning rod starts working its way out. A 30 rd clip and its on the ground. Getting it in is a pain in the butt. It does not line up stright all the way down and you have to angle the threded end to go all the way down. Does any one have this problem? I would hate to have to just keep it out. Makes no sense to have it then!

The rod is clearing the brake/FH? The FH threads is what retains the rod on mine. In order for it to work its way off under fire, the rod would have to be severely warped or not inserted all the way.

Thanks for the info on the cleaning rod. Mine did come wiht a slight bend just on the non threaded end. Do you have issues pushing the cleaning rod into the rifle? I cant seam to get it down all the way wiht out stuff getting in the way. First it hits the strap under the chamber end. then it hits the rivit that holds in the bullet guide.

Thanks

No problem. Yeah, the cleaning rod on my Arsenal setup is a major pain to get reinserted. I have to fiddle with it until it eventually slides into place.

I just received a reply to my email I sent to K Var on this issue. I was told “ The cleaning rod that comes un attached to the rifle form the box for a reason due to it will not properly fit with the picatinny rail handguards installed on your SGL21 rifle. The handguard manufacturer did not make it to do so. The cleaning rod does come with the rifle in the box for cleaning purposes only".

Oh Well

Its mostly due to barrel whip. Happens a lot to RPK's. As can be seen in this video.

Why are they threaded? I have always wondered this - because my m44 has a threaded rod that you actually screw in to keep it from falling out, where as the ak's rod is just bent and held in somehow with no screwing in.

I would assume it is threaded to accept attachments. Maybe attachments that might be in the cleaning kit. Would not k now as it does not come with a cleaning kit? You have to buy that separate.

They have threads to attach bore brushes.
