I remember seeing instructions on how to get the rear spring for a sidefolder (the big one for the release button) back into the trunnion.  Searching has yielded no fruit.

Anyone got suggestions?

Thx.

This what you're looking for?

No, it isn't.  I know what the spring looks like, and I know where it goes.

I'm asking if anyone has any ideas on how to get it in there.  I'm about to just cut up this NDS receiver and sell the fucking kit.

Hopefully this thread will help out. There are a few pointers about how others accomplish the spring installations. I'm about to build an AKS-74 myself and have been looking for resources on the topic.

I've done it a couple of times, it's a pain - wear glasses!

Of course if you had the junk stockset by DPH, you could just squish the spring easily with your fingers and put it in (I wish I was joking about that too)

be careful there, i made a post that was anything other than jumping at the chance to kneel down and lick the collective scrotum of DPH Arms and the cheap chinese junk sidefolders they imported (and avoided at all costs revealing the origin of whenever asked) and i was even threatened with being banned by an unnamed staff member.

i'd hate to see you made an example of.

I've got to do this too as my SLR107 is all torn down for repainting.

I was thinging of pre-compressing the srpings using nylon cable ties. I've done that in the past with the mag spring.

They left out the part about wearing eye protection as the springs are sure a shit going to fly around and poke a hole in your cornea.

Good luck.

it's not as hard as the stock catch on the front. If you can buy a pair of the pliers used for spring compression that may help. I used a thick punch as a guide, got it down in there, then gentle put the release in. It's not the simplest task, but not impossible either. If your fingers hurt, take a break, drink a beer, and come at it again.

If someone wants to ban me because I'm saying those sidefolders are NOT the made to military spec, unrecognizable from an original bulgy sidefolder, product that they were said to be, then let them. I know all I need about building now, anyways

taking a break to watch some dirty jobs, and i'll hit it up tomorrow.  no sense getting more and more frustrated.....it's been the total week from hell and the last thing i need to do is blow up on someone who doesn't deserve it (again).

Get a wire hanger. Make a long straight piece and fold it in "U" with ends coming together. Bend a small hooks on free ends. Insert "U" in to spring and engage hooks over the spring. Now insert "U"  in to the cross-latch hole from inside of reciever. Pull the wire compressing spring. Once it is compressed, push the other spring end inside. Now remove the "U".
