Alright I'm writing a large paper over the differences of the ak-47 and 74 vs the m16, m4, ar-15 and variants.  The main question I have is on the ak's.  What is the REAL accuracy of these firearms?  I don't mean like OH THEY SUCK .  I mean like MOA measurments.  I know how accurate the ars are, I just need to get these two.  And if you could provide a source that would be amazing.

i would say <4moa.  all the aks ive shot have been 2-3 moa.  4 is at the large end from my experiences.  Even at 4moa, at 300yards u can hit a man in the chest every time.  So they are definitely not "spray and pray" guns.  For an ak-74, id say a little better.  idk, maybe i just have good experiences, but i think my friends tantal is like 1.5 to 2 moa.

My experience as well, but i wouldnt doubt my Tantal being under a 2 moa rifle.  Hell, my AKS-74u in my hands shoots 3.5moa out to 200 yards.  All depends on the shooter and im talking about using optics as well.

Edit: will add that average AK47s = no moa, but 4-5 inch groups @ 100 yards.  I have shot a tantal before that was giving us 3-5 inch groups @ 50 yards  New barrel = 1 inch at most @ 50 w/ 5 shot groups.

Both of my AK rifles are pretty solid 4MOA guns.

There are acceptance specs in this manual: http://www.box.net/shared/cu2djae1zb

Look in the section on zeroing rifles for the spec. BSW

3-4 MOA.  This is due to the heavy bolt in the AK variants, short sight radius, and due to somewhat of the crude nature they are made with parts not being fitted tightly to increase reliability.
