Just received an Inrange built 74 from Atlantic Firearms.  Can someone recommend a good Front sight tool?

Thanks

I guess I'm a little confused.  The middle part of the front sight is turned to the right.

Tapco makes a good quality front sight tool and it work on just about any make of AK front sight.

I had a cheap knockoff that I got from a gun show.  I thought it was a Tapco, but it wasn't.  First time I tried to adjust the front sight on my 74 I stripped the bolt threads.  I ordered a Tapco from Cheaper 'N' Dirt and the Tapco would not fit over the front sight tower.  There was a a small rise on the receiving side of the tool that was just the amount of clearance I needed.  Then I got the bright idea to try the bolt of the Tapco in the receiver of the knockoff.  Apparently, the body and threads of the knockoff was okay, it was just the bolt that was cheap.  The Tapco bolt fit and never stripped out on the knockoff tool, which did fit over the sight tower.  So, just be careful, I had no idea it would be such a pain in the ass.

You asked for a GOOD sight tool.

This is a GOOD sight tool set:

I've got one –– it fits right, does the job, and you'll never break it.

If the sight post is just turned a little to the right and you just want to twist it in its threads a little back to make it look straighter inside the ears, check if your toolkit has the tool.  I don't know if your rifle came with the standard AK toolkit, but if so, part of it should be the sight adjustment tool that allows you to twist in or out the sight post to raise or lower it.

The rifle is adjusted for windage by moving the drum that the post screws into. It is possible that the post is toward  the right ear so that POA=POI. Try shooting the rifle before you move the sight.

1 turn of the post moves the point of impact 20 cm (8 inches) at 100 meters. Turning the sight even a little can result in POI diverging from POA.
