Well I got a Basket case Russian from a buddy and after tearing it down to rebuild it I found this.

So my question is can this be salvaged???

Nice "1975" Russian Izmash part.  Yes, it can be salvaged - a welder and re-do the holes for you.

Yeah I just found out it is Russian and it has a matching bolt. Now I really want to fix it.

You're going to have to push the barrel out to install the trunnion anyway, when you do that drilling the weld out of the holes will be easy.

ETA: Wait...is the trunnion welded to the barrel or is that weld that remains from the trunnion being welded to the receiver?

That's seriously bad ass.  It looks like you've got yourself a gem there.  Just the trunnion alone would be worth something for somebody looking to build a period-piece.  It could always be re-barrelled and the runnion reused.  When you have the rifle project finished you just have the trunnion done along with all the rest of the pieces.

It is weld from the trunnion being welded to the receiver.
