I finally, after several false starts, got to the range with this weapon. luckily for me, i brought my son to have a shooting contest with a couple of 22s after i got the AR and AK sighted in (ammo is too expensive for shooting the "cool" rifles right now) so i put 3 of those "fluorescent green" marking targets in a row ... the ones that are about 8" wide from Cabela's.

started shooting on the furthest left target and ... no hits ? I moved to the middle target to see what the deal was and lo and behold. started putting holes in the left target. at 25 yards. 8" off to the left.

how do i adjust the sight on this sucker so a normal person can hit something ? on the bright side, once i determined where the bullets were hitting, it actually grouped up okay. thanks.

To adjust the windage you drift the front sight drum (the round thing that holds the post).
TAPCO makes a tool that works. Avoid the cheap Chinese tools. The hole is too small and the steel is too soft.
You can use a C clamp and socket as an alternative
Move the sight to the left. 1mm of sight movement =  26cm movement of POI at 100 meters.

That's the straight scoop. Just remember, the front sight on anything is adjusted by moving it opposite the direction of correction; that is, move it left to move the point of impact (POI) right. If you go ahead and buy the windage adjustment tool, the handle will most likely have one end made to adjust the elevation with the sight post. Same deal - move post lower to raise POI.
For sighting in, set the rear sight on '1' and adjust POI to be on center and 1" low at 25 yards while aiming at the bull's eye. Refine this on the 100 yard range to hit the bull's eye. Personally, I leave the sight on '1', figuring if I need to actually use the rifle, most likely the engagement range will be within 150 yards. The alternative is to put the sight on 'battlesight' which is the letter mark at the bottom of the range marks. Zeroing using the battlesight setting is more complicated; the far zero is 300 meters, and the POI at 100 is quite high. However, either method will index the range settings on the rear sight to within reasonable accuracy. The front edge of the sight slider (toward the muzzle) is the correct indexing edge.

Regarding the Chinese tools...if you get the Polytech Heavy Duty tool you'll never need another. Just avoid the standard Chinese tool as it is soft as previously mentioned.

FWIW, .004" of drum movement will move the POI about 1" at 100 meters (or 1/4" at 25 yards), and 1/8 rotation of the front sight post will move POI about 1" at 100 meters.

Thanks to all. will be buying the tool today.

fwiw, other than being a tiny bit short in the stock, it was a fun shooter and no trigger slap at all.
