I've tried to email these guys a few questions, but it's been over a week, and no reply. So I thought I would ask you guys, since I am sure some of you have had your kits sent to them to have it built. I see that it costs 300 dollars to build an AK, and that's for a fixed, underfolder or sidefolder stock AK. When they build the rifle, do they put any hard paint on it on the receiver like dura-coat or something? Meaning do they refinish the rifle for 300 dollars or does that cost extra? Also, I got EVERYTHING, except rivets, do we have to provide those to them? Or do they already have rivets at their shop that they will use? |

I was told only parkerizing was in the base price. I sent 100% of the parts and a Nodak receiver (AK103 project) except for the side rail, what I was charged:
1 AK 100 build on customers parts $350 1 Rear sight mod $35 1 Side rail scope mount $10 labor 1 Moly Resin finish Black $100 (but unfortunately it was done in gray not black) LABOR Total $495.00 Parts total (side rail only) $40 Return Shipping $25.00 TOTAL $560.00 the wait was 13 months & 2 days....got it back this month |

I am not taking any pics of this rifle, it actually looks like crap in this sick gray color I got instead of the matte black finish I ordered to go with the black furniture, and matte black was on their work order so I guess who ever was doing finishing that day just wasn't paying attention at all or didn't want to change the color in the air gun for mine. One week later I can't get my emails answered either....but the rifle shoots fine. They lost my cleaning rod so that is one piece that will never match the rest of the gun now, ordered a new one from GPC this week...oh well, these guys must be really really busy...I figure it is picture worthy one day when I get a local duracoat type to refinish it for me so it looks right instead of this cheap looking mismatched thing it is.... |

yes indeed, AK it is, and it shoots good, the stock folds...ugly doesn't inhibit utility at all and the gun doesn't need a cleaning rod to shoot, plus the more scratches I put on this one the happier I will be...
Did you....leave a message to see about sending it back & having things made right? RD is a good group, and yes, they are busy as one armed paper hangers, but Jim will take care of you, given the chance. |
