So I got my AMD-65 in from AIM Surplus. It is typical I suppose - not the best, but not bad either. The Tapco or Promag thing they sent as a magazine was like a square peg in a round hole - tight as hell. It damn near needed a hammer to remove, but a normal metal mag fits just fine. The one thing I did notice was the rear trunion was not riveted - it was welded. There doesn't seem to be a rivet underneath either - just a weld blob. The fit and finish are acceptable otherwise. Has anyone got one of the AMD's from AIM? I am wondering if the welds are typical for the build since they only have 3 compliance parts in the rifle itself? Send it back? Just live with it considering the current economic / gun climate? Any suggestions?

So I just got off my butt and called AIM Surplus. Their CS was very helpful in resolving the issue. It appears I may have got the oddball of the bunch. They went back and checked the other rifles in stock and verified the rears were all riveted - none with welds. So, they offered to exchange the rifle for another.

Aim is one of those few places you can really buy with confidence.
They know how to run a business.

Did you manage to get any pics of the welds?

I agree - there is a lot to be said about a company that takes care if its customers.
