Well I am looking at rusmilitary.com for wood handgaurds, bakelite or plum grip and a sling. They are in Great Britain and I think they are Russian parts.
Will this be out of 922 compliance? |

All depends on what compliance parts are in your rifle. Does your rifle have the correct number of US parts or even need them (preban?). Are the parts you plan on replacing US parts or already foreign? A sling is not a counted part. |
| Handguard (upper) and forearm (lower) are counted as 1 part, including those with forward pistol grips. If your rifle is in compliance now and has an imported handguard or forearm, you can use a different imported one to replace it without changing your compliance status. In any case you can use USA parts anywhere without losing compliance. |

I would assume it is an AK-74 kit build or is it some other rifle?
The ORF rifle will probably have a US fire control group (3), US receiver, possibly a US gas piston, and US pistol grip. If that is the case then you couldn't change out the pistol grip unless you exchanged it or another counted part with a US part. If this is an AK-74 style rifle in 5.45x39 then you can gain two US compliance parts by using a US follower and baseplate in all of your AK-74 mags that will be used in the rifle. Same with a 7.62x39 rifle. There are also US made AK-74 brakes available for a threaded front sight block though they may not be chromelined like the original. For a 7.62x39 rifle there are also US made slant brakes and muzzle devices.. |

The important part to consider is where the handguards you are replacing were made.
If you are replacing forign parts then it doesn't matter. Replacing them with another forign part just keeps you even and replacing them with US parts puts you ahead of the game. If you are replacing US parts with imported parts then you might need to start counting. You can't have more than 10 "countable" imported parts. The countable parts are listed on many websites. |
