my AK is 922r compliant. I just got a Yugo M70AB1 (fixed stock) from aimsurplus. How do I determine if I its 922r compliant so that I can use foreign mags and not just American ones?

Call Aim and asked them which parts are US made.  Must have 5 parts to be compliant or 6 if you want a flash hider or muzzle break.

Simply stated, YOU don't have to prove it - Aim, as the retailer/manufacturer, had to make it compliant in order to sell. If it turned out to be non-compliant, they would have to fix it. They have way too much at stake to be selling non-compliant AKs. All you need for proof is your purchase receipt. Now if you had bought it from some private seller in as-is condition, you'd have to go through it and make a list of the US-made parts for your own protection and satisfaction. The problem is, some US parts may not be clearly marked. As to the magazines, if it came with a US magazine, you would assume that's what you have to use. Otherwise, they have probably put a piston and grip on so you can use any mags. To satisfy your curiosity, just give them a call today.
