I have a Rom PSL on the way, should be here Thurs ... I also ordered a lot of 880rds of 7.62x54R but they are 175gr.

I have read that shooting a round with a bullet of over 155gr will be detremental to the action of the rifle.  I would assume this would be because the spring is not stiff enough to absorb all the energy before the bolt comes to the rearmost position. If this is the case is there an aftermarket "heavy duty" spring, or could you simply take a section of spring slightly larger than the factory recoil spring and make a "secondary" spring like on a glock subcompact guide rod?

What do you guys think?

Just chalk it up as a learning experience and order the right ammo.

Wideners, Centerfire Systems or Aim can hook you up with light ball.

Yep.

The heavier ball ammo has a longer dwell time - no spring changes will cure that.
