Got my first AK, a Century GP1975, over Christmas.  Tapco standard stock is way too short for my 6'3" gorilla armed frame.  Looking for recommendations for an inexpensive, obtainable stock with a considerably longer length of pull.  I don't really care that much about looks, if a Tapco T-6 is long enough it would be just fine with me.  Range toy, not go-to rifle, so I don't need to be able to break down doors by butt-stroking them.  US made is preferred.  If anyone has comparison pics available they would be appreciated.

Thanks

Jeff

I used an industial. belt sander (Automotive machine shop)(be careful) and sanded the T-6 tapco stock flat. Then added a half inch piece of maple to the back and screwed on a butt pad. You could just use a thicker piece of wood and gain a couple of inches. Just a thought.

The rifle came with the Tapco Russian style stock.  I was looking online at the KVAR NATO length stocks, but I'm not sure they would be long enough.  I always found the M16A2 stock to be a bit on the short side.  The Tapco sidefolder is a lot better length wise, but just feels too unstable and uncomfortable.  I may just have to save my pennies until I can afford the longest stock ACE makes.

The Command Arms stock has a long length of pull to it and it MUCH nicer that the Tapco crap.  Here's a link, it's not the cheapest but it's not too bad either;

Vltor's tube with your choice mil-spec stock would be best IMO

http://www.vltor.com/accessory.htm

AK47/AKM/AKS Stock Adpater and Extension

The Adapter and Extension Combo is a direct replacement for the standard fixed AK-type stock. With this adapter installed, the user will have five stock positions, a watertight storage compartment that is accessible from the rear and an ambidextrous single-point sling mount, located near the firearm's receiver. This kit is the adapter/extension only, stock or QD sling-swivel not included. Will fit sheet metal AKM variants only, except the Yugo or the Iraqi Tabuk. The Adapter/extension has a MilSpec outer profile and will only accept Colt or Vltor dimensioned buttstocks.
Retail Price $89.95

The tapco t-6 should fit you fine.  It will extend long enough for  anyone.  Extended it all the way but couldn't  use it.  I'm  the same height with long
arms.  I use it on about the third setting as the balance changes the longer you make it.

For std stock ends, the Tapco $10 1" rubber extension works well.

Thanks for all the advice, folks.  Finally got to the fun store and was able to compare Tapco and CAA.  Decided the CAA was enough nicer to justify the 2.5X price difference.  I got it mounted and now I don't have to worry about a bloody nose any more.
