My WASR 10/63 has no trouble cycling this stuff. I've probably gone through 1000+ rounds with no misfires or jams (knock on wood). These are cheap compared to American ammo and they have steel casings unlike American brass ammo like Winchester or Remington. I never pay more than 7 dollars for a box of 20. Most American ammo is usually double or triple that amount. They do leave a bit more fouling than American ammo, but for an AK that's no biggie. They are non-corrosive. Also, it has an odd odor when shooting that some say smells like ammonia. The smell doesn't bother me at all. For plinking at the range I'll use FMJ. I have HP's for loading out for self defense. Hot Shot is another cheaper alternative with steel casings. It is Romanian. I haven't tried it yet, but if Wolf/Barnaul is out at the gun store I could see myself picking it up. Good luck and have fun shooting! |
| i agree with the above post in regards to the steel cased russian ammo. the american manufactured ammo is quite a bit more expensive, but that may be due to the reloadable boxer primed brass case versus the berdan primed steel case. i've never bought any american ammo myself, because its too expensive. if you want to go hunting with any of your rifles, look for hollow point or soft point russian ammo. |
