Hello guys,
I have been out of the AK game for ten years. The last AK I had was a Polytech legend  which I sold (stupidly).
After long deliberation I'd like to get a very good AK. My budget is $1300.00. I'd like 7.62x39 as I have 1440 rounds I bought back in the mid 90's still in its Greman wooden crate.
I realize getting another Poly Legend is probably out of the question. But I would like a milled receiver, failing that a good stamped one.
  Any suggestios? Thanks.

As most guys here know I am pro Chi-Com AKs. So a little biased.
Why not get the best!

If you have to have a milled Rayman1 has some good thoughts.

But for long term investment, quality, fit and function hard to beat a preban type 56 Chinese.
A Classic AK. 7.62 just what you need. And can still be found in your budget (for now).
My milled are great but, milled VS stamped could be and have been debated here for years.
I have yet to see a winner.
Good Luck.

Bump because I am in the same boat

I am totally AK ignorant, but have about $1300 to spend on one as well ( with any luck before 1/19/09 )

Please give additional recommendations based both on quality and availability

And please be as specific as possible because up until about 190 days ago I thought an AK was an AK was an AK
