| Got the new mak-90. Now how do i know its whats its suppose to be. suppose to be norinko , says, made in china, has thumb hole stock. looks to be never shot, the barrel has a real fine ribbing texture to it that my other TGI AK doesn't have. just wondering can i look up the serial # or tell if its like a "kit" or something. sorry for sounding stupid but i'm new to ak,s and am always skeptical. |

Quoted:
The barrel was probably turned on a lathe to cut the profile when it was manufactured which would make it look ribbed (not for her pleasure though). I was told that they (ribs) were there to promote cooling, but Lord only knows who told me that.... I seem to remember that it was a gun dealer in the 90's, so who knows!

- Clint It's lathe marks. The better the barrel, the less obvious the marks. |
