hey guys i'm new here and have a question about my ak. i bought a maadi several years ago and i am wondering how good is the quality of this rifle in comparison to others. i have fired quite a few rounds through it and have never had one problem. i just remember that a guy that used to see at the range had a norinco and the reciever was milled and it was a great looking rifle. any info or opinions on upgrades are welcome. oh nice site with tons of info here.

In the 80's, the Maddi was known as the "Beer Can AK" from the rough exterior it has. I think they are excellent rifles and if i am not mistaken, they are real close to being a russian AK. Go to the maddai (Egyptian) forum here and you should learn alot more and find alot of fellow maddai owners.

Ive read that alot of the rifles in "Red Dawn" were maddi's.  HTH.....

maadis are made on old russian equipment so they are very close to a real russian ak... pretty good quality, I'd say upper-lower tier.  The only thing about "better aks" is nicer finish/asthetics, and maybe a little more accuracy.
