If you want to shoot 22 lr in an AK its the only way to go.  I've had mine long enough now I think I can fix about any WASR 22 or AKT 98.  They can be a little troublesome but worth the effort to make them work.  My suggestion would be is to get a WASR 22  from Century Arms international.  I understand they are the importer and will do warranty repair work if you have problems.  The quality of the these rifles varies so its just a matter of luck what you get it if you buy new.  The other big advantage is Black Dog Machine has a high capacity mag available for $35.00 which is reasonable and is a very good mag and better than the factory mag IMHO.  There are several posts about these rifles in the Romanian section in the AK 47 section of AR15.com.  One thing for sure when I show up at the range with my AKT 98 (1st version of the WASR22) and AR 22's every body wants to shoot them.  They are both loads of fun to shoot and affordable to shoot.   Don't even think about buying an Armscorp AK as they are not real AK's.  The WASR 22 and AKT 98 are real AK's made by Cugir in Romania and use real AK parts.  These are great training tools and I try to make sure every Cop I know can shoot and use one!

What he said. I have two and love them. First one ran great after some break in. Second one had ejection  issues but I got that worked out  also. You may need to break the edge if the chamber with a drimel when using the Blaack Dog mags but they work well. I woiuld recmond getting one also. Lost of good informaion in the WASR 22 thread in the Romanian section.
